Since 2019, Sportpark Het Diekman, home to FC Twente Women’s, has been fully illuminated with 16 Philips LED fixtures. This high-quality lighting is sufficient for producing stunning TV images.
These wonderful images were taken in the Municipality of Enschede on the recently renovated field of the Twente women, located at Sportcampus Diekman.
Our OVI-Enschede team supplied and installed the complete lighting system. All in all, the new pitch and lighting system fully meet all UEFA requirements, allowing Twente Women to shine at European level.
We’re proud of this lighting system! Its unprecedented uniformity is a key feature. A state-of-the-art lighting management system also runs in the background, incorporating dozens of dimming protocols and monitoring energy consumption per user.
Also thanks to Antea Group Netherlands for the pleasant cooperation.
To arise
The idea of a women’s team for FC Twente gained momentum in 2004, when Joop Munsterman was chairman of the Enschede-based club. It wasn’t until 2006 that the FC Twente women’s team was announced. That same year, the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association) followed suit with an Eredivisie for women’s teams.
Until then, no sports clubs had women’s teams at the Eredivisie level. Following the KNVB’s initiative, nine more clubs followed with a women’s team of the same type. The Women’s Eredivisie continued with six teams, including FC Twente Women.

Victories
Since 2007, FC Twente’s women have achieved several victories, including:
- 6 national championships (seasons 2010/11, 2012/13, 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2018/19)
- 2 times KNVB Cup (season 2007/08 and 2014/15)
- 2 times 1st place in the Women’s BeNe League (season 2012/13 and 2013/14)
