In 2016, we installed brand-new LED sports field lighting for THC Hurley. This magnificent club, established in 1932 in Amstelveen, is a member of the Dutch top hockey league. Naturally, this requires top-notch lighting. We equipped the main field with over 500 lux, enough light to produce stunning TV images.

THC Hurley was founded in Amsterdam on July 12, 1932. The club’s name, THC Hurley, is derived from the originally Irish ball game “hurling”: a combination of rugby, football, and hockey played with a hurley (a type of stick). THC Hurley’s first location was on Van Hoogendorpstraat in the Staatsliedenbuurt neighborhood. Over the years, the club moved from Museumplein and Zuidelijke Wandelweg to its current location in the Amsterdamse Bos in 1948.Simplicity was key: a small wooden construction trailer served as the clubhouse, hence the name of the club magazine: “De Keet” (The Shack). In 1962, a new clubhouse was designed by architect Clim Meyer. The first artificial turf field was installed in 1983, and the third in 1999. In 2003, Hurley opened its new, current clubhouse, and the fourth artificial turf field was also installed. In the 2019-2020 season, a temporary inflatable dome will be built at Hurley for the indoor hockey season, allowing everyone to train at the club and at fixed times, just like in the field season.
Top hockey
Striving for the top is inextricably linked to competitive sports. This is no different for THC Hurley. THC Hurley will continue to develop top-level hockey in the coming years. Some developments depend on funding, while others require organizational growth.THC Hurley aims to play engaging hockey with its Men’s and Women’s 1st teams, as well as its youth teams, and play a significant role at the highest level. The main objective is for both the Men’s and Women’s 1st teams to compete in the Premier League, and for the youth teams to participate in the national competition (IDC), respectively, for the top division in the D category. For the Men’s and Women’s 2nd teams, the ambition is to achieve a good position in the Reserve Premier League, with the final ranking being secondary to the true focus of these teams. THC Hurley talents are being prepared for the first team under the guidance of experienced players, and reserves for the first team are being given match practice. All this is done under the guidance of older and experienced players and with the help of expert coaches.

The long-term ambition is to become a stable premier league team with both the women’s and men’s teams, but this must be achieved by recruiting as many players as possible from our own youth teams. Therefore, the first teams must be sufficiently recognizable and accessible to our own youth players.
