OVI-Enschede / Mastverlichting.com, in collaboration with Sportief Opgewekt, had the pleasure of fitting the tennis courts with LED lighting. With eight AAA-Lux LED fixtures, light pollution to the neighborhood is minimized. Special RS versions with light pollution hoods were used. History
‘t Laer was founded on March 28, 1950, to provide a Roman Catholic tennis alternative in Laren, alongside the general tennis club. Initially, the courts were rented, but the municipality soon granted the current plot of land a leasehold, and courts 1, 2, and 3 were constructed. The original clubhouse, “De Kist,” is still part of our facility and is currently used as a workshop for our groundsman, handyman club, and tennis instructors.
Courts 4, 5, and 6 were constructed in 1971, and the current clubhouse opened that same year. The club flourished from the start. Over the years, as with many originally Catholic clubs, the “RC” affiliation disappeared, and ‘t Laer became a general club. ‘t Laer is a club where both recreational and competitive tennis players feel at home. To ensure there’s something for everyone, the Youth Committee and Events Committee focus primarily on social tennis activities within the club, while the Technical Committee focuses primarily on activities for competitive tennis players. These activities are designed so that, regardless of playing level, every member can participate in this enjoyable sport in an appropriate way!
Recreational events include the Thursday morning and Friday evening toss, the opening and closing tournaments, the Monday evening tournament, the family tournament, and the Davis Cup weekend for youth. The Events Committee also organizes, among other things, an annual bicycle rally. In short, ‘t Laer is a vibrant club with many activities, and if you want to quickly find your way around our club, there’s only one piece of advice: participate in as many of these activities as possible!
