At our association Hauwert ’65, OVI has replaced three lighting columns and equipped two training fields with modern LED lighting. Afterwards they came back to measure the light intensity on and next to the field, so that the surrounding houses would not experience any nuisance. At a tennis club, a light calculation showed that the old installation radiated far too much light to the environment. Ovi-Enschede has installed new, efficient lighting and carefully aligned it with the standards for light nuisance. LED sports field lighting gives more light with less energy, has a much longer life and requires considerably less maintenance than conventional luminaires. In practice, sports clubs see energy savings of up to 50-70%, depending on the old installation and use. In addition, LED offers better light quality (uniformity, color rendering) and you can often dim the installation or switch into scenes for training, competition or events.
Yes. When designing each lighting installation, we take into account the NOC * NSF guidelines and the European standard NEN-EN 12193 for sports lighting. In this way we ensure that the field falls into the right lighting class (for example only training, regional competition or national / top competition) and that things such as illumination (lux), uniformity, glare and color rendering remain within the set limits.

The exact savings depend on the current system, the number of burning hours and the energy rates, but in many cases:

In the 2024–2028 scheme, the following is usually:
20% subsidy Given on construction, maintenance and purchase of sports materials;
and Extra subsidy (up to approx. 30% total) on sustainable measures, including energy-efficient LED sports lighting.
